We offer a monthly program for the general public. These programs have a specific theme for the evening as well as a period for investigating the seasonal constellations and planets.
Public programs are held the fourth Wednesday of each month. This month we are offering a special 2-hour class on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, titled "Build Your Own Telescope" .

Drake Planetarium is open for the public one evening a month, offering fascinating glimpses into the wonderful world of astronomy and space science. Each monthly program is divided into two parts:
- The first section covers a particular topic of interest, for example, the Mars Lander, asteroids and near Earth collisions, the International Space Station, and the like.
- The second part is always an introduction into the nighttime sky. Each person is given a free sky chart.
After learning how to use it, they are then taught to recognize the major constellations and planets visible at that season of the year
